Is Chetan Bhagat that good?
I find Chetan Bhagat to be lagging behind in terms of writing. He can improve a lot. He, however, should be credited for bringing bank the interest in reading books among young folks.

RE: Is Chetan Bhagat that good?
I was about to start similar thread, you read my mind Tongue

In my opinion, only Five Point Someone was good. Rest all I didn't really liked.

So I agree with you that he is lagging behind.

RE: Is Chetan Bhagat that good?
Just pulp fiction. But at least he took the effort to pen down stuff which everyone knows..!

RE: Is Chetan Bhagat that good?
^Exactly! The desi flavour, which will attract the youths for sure Tongue BTW, two states and five point someone are my favourites. In fact I remembered my UG days while reading five point someone!!

RE: Is Chetan Bhagat that good?
Well I didn't liked 2 states that much, I felt it is too filmy.

Reasons why he is famous :
-simplest language
-simple concepts [like love, college, cricket etc]

I strongly believe there are others who also deserve as much of Chetan, like Amitav Gosh, Aravind Adiga etc

RE: Is Chetan Bhagat that good?
well, five point someone was awesome and his other books are good too. basically it just shows how people in our country are. they don't prefer authors using complex words..
nothing beats his desi touch.. though he is definitely getting more credit than he deserves.

So nobody heard of Samit Basu here ? IMO he's one of the best Indian writers at the moment. Have read all of his works and they are simply hilarious !

RE: Is Chetan Bhagat that good?
@sammy - I feel he writes scripts for movie rather than a book. Except FPS, I feel same about all. And welcome to RE !

@alekh - no man, I didn't heard about him Sad Please post about his works in book talk section.

hmm. true
though One Night @ the Call Center was also good. but ruined by salman's loud acting style in the movie. Dodgy
