As They Say.....
As They Say......

They say, “It has a lot to offer,
Peace and freedom, none to suffer,
Land outside of milk and honey,
With no dearth of money. ”

Encaged in a trap a rat pondered,
“How lovely will it be!”,he wondered,
"to wander in the land I often dream,
Running on happiness under the sunbeam.

Entertaining others doing what I am trained,
Appraised with their applause feigned,
For I am sick of my master's jape,
I should make a plan to escape."

That night, like every night,
The master drew the rat nigh.
To kiss his forehead before going to sleep,
The rat chucked his hand, hurriedly leaped.

Ran as fast as a bullet leaves,
On making a gun's trigger release.
Away the rat ran for the land,
Of which his friends back brand.

Yes, he did found one place,
To offer him halcyonic days.
Providing food plenty to have,
Yummy cheese, the rat's fave.

As he approached it near,
Suddenly a guard appaeared.
"Not meant for you", angrily he said,
"Earn to have the cheese laid!"

Rat in a rat race to earn,
Became weak and frail in the yearn.
Burnt the midnight oil,
Trapped in the hardwork's toil.

And yes he did earn that much,
To have the cheese to munch.
Grabbed by many, he was attacked,
Left for him a few, by the other rats.

The master cried, "Rat back in trap!"
Returned back the dejected chap.
And now they say, "There is a land,
Giving more than one can think to hand"
The rat doubts as they puffer,
Yet thinks again about the offer. Wink

RE: As They Say.....
Amazing poem. It resonated with me on so many levels. I'm going through a very similar phase of my life right now.
